For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a Go-Go-Go type of person that can’t sit still for very long. I love it! It makes me feel so alive being energetic and ready to pounce on fun activities or tasks.

However, over time this led me to feel burnt out. I’d be full of beans but then crash at 3pm. I’d pick up again at about 6pm, then stay awake until midnight… I needed to find something to help as I started to learn my adrenals were getting hammered! I was burning out. I used caffeine as some form of band-aid to help energy levels. But we know that doing that makes the problem worse.

So I turned to meditation. But you can imagine, for an undiagnosed ADD guy like me, sitting still and looking inwards was challenging. I knew meditation would help improve my scattered attention, nervous system, focus and concentration. But along the way, I also discovered many other benefits like keeping my digestion running smoothly, maintaining a consistent level of energy during the day and improving my relationships by being an active listener. Safe to say I’m investing more time in this expansive practice.

In the beginning, I had no idea what I was supposed to do, let alone if I was doing it correctly (there are apps that teach you “how”, so no worries there). But I set myself a challenge to meditate every day for a week. After a week I noticed I was less reactive and more proactive. I was able to think more clearly and respond more effectively. I also noticed that my sleep was deeper, more restorative and I was changing my habit! I wanted to go to bed earlier (this was HUGE for me).

But the biggest lesson that I’ve taken away – Meditation puts you into the para-sympathetic system. The ‘rest and digest’ state. This is the place you need to be to heal things. To recover from things. To process things. The best part of being in the para-sympathetic nervous system is the feeling of knowing you are still energetic without the ‘Go-Go-Go’ energy from an adrenaline place. To finally have some real earth grounding energy that doesn’t rely on my mind to motivate me or need caffeine to trigger the start of the day. I like to call this the “calm as a Hindu Cow state”.

When should you Meditate?

I like first thing in the morning as you wake up, or when I get home from work in the mid afternoon. The reason to meditate then and not before bed is so you can receive the benefits while still being awake for the day or evening until sleep! Try it!

Keen to give it a ‘Go’? Here are my top tips for getting started:

• Make a “Meditation Happening” sign for your bedroom door or meditation space. This will minimise interruptions!

• Turn that phone OFF!!!! Or at least on silent or vibrate so there are no interruptions. Trust me. You don’t want a random notification interrupting as you go deeper into the time you’ve committed to.

• Sit upright on a chair or bed. Don’t lie down. Sitting on a pillow can help relax into the 20 minutes you are dedicating to yourself, and against something to support your back. My comfortable space is just a couch.

• Use a guided meditation in the beginning. There are so many fantastic apps, I’ve listed some of my favourites below. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can give it a try on your own – no music, just you and your thoughts.

• Set a timer. When you’re new to meditation, you will be surprised how quick the time goes! And learn to resist the temptation to check how long you’ve got left. After plenty of practice, remove the timer and see where your thoughts take you.

• Remember, it’s a practice, not a perfect! Be kind to yourself, it’s ok not to be great at it. Like everything, you will improve with practice.

Check out this list of some of my favourite meditation and mindfulness apps. If you’re new to meditation, it’s a great place to start.

One Giant Mind
This is the one I’ve most resonated with as it’s consistent with using the same music and teachers. This allows or let’s you know if any big differences in your meditation happens, that it’s not the music or teachers. It’s me. This is a simple easy-to-follow program and you can expand when you are ready. This app really allows you to start slow to become comfortable and then dives deeper into meditation when you are ready.

I am often approached by people who have digestive issues and wonder if it’s safe to do a colon cleanse

What About if I Have Blockages or Colon Damage?

Firstly, what I would say is if you have a digestive issue that includes any blockages then it is REALLY important to take it slow. Especially if there has been any damage to the colon. In fact, I always recommend people with major digestive issues to do the 30 day colon cleanse process rather than the 4 day process. Taking 1 or 2 tablespoons of the colon cleanse mix every day for 30 days is still going to bulk things up enough to get some really good cleansing going on for you.

I would also highly recommend eating oatmeal every day. Get yourself some good quality organic oats – I like the steel cut oats but any kind that aren’t “instant oats” are great because they are less processed. Eating a bowl of oatmeal every day will add more good fibre into your system.  And buy yourself some mission figs – oh my god they taste so good! Figs or dates or prunes especially are great – they have very specific fibres and sugars that help the body’s natural digestive action to clean things out. If you want to boost up your protein intake you could add some hemp seeds to your oatmeal as well and if you want it a bit sweeter, add some honey.

Hydrating with Fruit

ANY fruit will be super hydrating to the digestive system. I typically recommend starting the day with fresh fruit first, even before you eat your oatmeal. Maybe even before you have your serve of colon cleanse, because the fruit will hydrate everything and get things “sliding” along and moving!

Apples are going to be the best choice for digestive function. But ALL fruit will hydrate the digestive system, give you some good enzymes, clean some things out, ferment some things that aren’t meant to be there and just get everything to move along.

If you can implement some form of intermittent fasting too that would be fantastic because it gives everything a break. So even if that just looks like waiting until 10am to have some fruit. Then have a serving of colon cleanse at 10.30-11am.

To really amp things up you could do a serve of colon cleanse in the afternoon as well! If you don’t like the taste of the colon cleanse by itself then you could definitely put it into your oatmeal, it will just bulk it up. You probably won’t even notice the taste at all!

Why You Should Make Friends With Salad

During this cleansing process, if you can eat super plant based for the whole 30 days then that would definitely be really helpful. And if you could eat 100% RAW plant based then that would be even better! If you have ever seen some of the videos of the salads I have made – amazing! And just making these salads makes me feel so good; every time I am boosting up greens I feel strong. I can feel the extra energy and power!

If you feel like you need a snack in the afternoon – try things like carrot sticks and celery. Celery is a great broom for the digestive system. When you eat celery you’ve probably noticed you end up with this ball of fibre you are trying to swallow! If you can eat 2-3 sticks of celery then that’s like colon cleansing all by itself.

Fasting for Optimal Healing

If you are dealing with a major digestive issue like a twisted colon, once you finish up your 30 days of colon cleansing, then honestly healing is going to need to include some form of extended water fasting. I know lots of people have healed their digestive conditions, and typically it takes 20-30 days to have a complete healing. That length of water fasting can be pretty full on and I wouldn’t recommend anyone do that without someone with experience monitoring you, such as a Tolman Health Coach.

Without professional assistance I would recommend trying 10-15 days on a water fast and see how you go. If you can make time for that. Water fasting requires 100% commitment so you can’t be going to work, you need to put all your focus on your healing. Once you have done some water fasting, do equal that time with juices and you are probably going to be in a really good place. You can add in things like clear vegetable broths and herbal teas while you are juice fasting too!

Coffee Enemas for the Win!

Throughout this process, whether you are fasting or not, I recommend you do daily enemas – I like to do them in the morning. Coffee enemas are super healing. Doing them in the morning will wake you up and get you going! The coffee detoxifies your liver so you will feel really good. And the whites of your eyes clear up pretty quickly from doing coffee enemas.

Just make sure you are using good, pristine, organic, fresh roasted coffee. Grind it yourself, brew it yourself and then use it in the enema straight away. The coffee is also going to stimulate the lining of the colon for healing and action and movement.

So my suggested protocol for colon cleansing with digestive issues would look like 30 days of 1-2 servings of colon cleanse, eating lots of (preferably raw) healthy food to just clean everything out and then going into a fast of 10-15 days on water and after that an equal amount of time on juice.

Once you have finished the fasting, break your fast with things like coconut yoghurt, berries and honey. Keeping it fresh with fruits! Keep that up for about a week then you can start incorporating some steamed vegetables and things like that.

Then moving back into a healthier lifestyle is obviously ideal.

Today I want to discuss how can you have really healthy teeth, and how can you make sure your children have healthy teeth.

So let’s take a look at some of the lifestyle components that lead to a healthy, dazzling white smile.

[thrive_leads id=’13473′]

Sunshine

One thing people probably never associate with good dental health is sunshine.

You see, sunshine helps us produce Vitamin D, which is the main hormone that causes the production of osteoblasts which lays down new bone.

Your teeth are bones.

So one of the best things you can do is get out into the sun to lay down and regenerate your teeth.

Nutrition

Now obviously you want to avoid artificial sweeteners, processed foods, all the types of things that can decay your teeth.

You want to make sure you have a balanced diet with quality nutrition so you have all the nutritional components to not be calcium-deficient.

You know, one of the products I’d recommend is my Greens, because it builds your blood and your blood is what builds everything else. It’s also really high in calcium.

Oral hygiene

There are a couple of foods that act like a toothbrush when you eat them.

One of the best things you can do is eat an apple. Eating an apple strengthens your gums and is really good for your teeth. It cleans everything out.

Another one is celery. Celery contains a high amount of sodium that is needed to produce and lay down calcium as well. Celery also has Vitamin K, which is a key factor for solid and healthy bones.

Now the cool thing about celery is when you eat it, it cleans your entire mouth and acts like dental floss. If you eat just one stick of celery a day, it’s like flossing your teeth and cleaning them.

I know most of you probably haven’t heard this but eating an apple a day keeps the doctor AND the dentist away. Same with celery.

If you already have a bacterial infection, gingivitis, or major dental problems, doing a saltwater gargle – taking salt water, a high amount of Celtic or Himalayan salt, swishing it around in your mouth and spitting that out – three times a day, will kill the infection and help with the state of your teeth and bad bacteria.

Tooth whitening

For whitening and oral hygiene, I recommend a good quality toothpaste that doesn’t have fluoride or toxic chemicals, but just a natural toothpaste.

Then I recommend using charcoal.

I use activated charcoal and it comes from coconut husks. Charcoal is actual minerals. It’s the leftover bits after you burn it all down. What I do is put a natural toothpaste on my brush, dip it in charcoal and then brush my teeth, and it’s fully black.

The charcoal locks all the calcium and minerals into your teeth. It detoxifies everything and whitens your teeth with one brush.

If I see a little bit of yellow, I brush my teeth once and I can see the difference. If I brush my teeth two to three times a day that same way, I can see a big difference. I don’t use charcoal every single time. I might just use regular quality toothpaste.

I sometimes make my own toothpaste with just bicarbonate of soda and essential oils, typically wintergreen, peppermint or clove essential oil. These are fantastic for healing the gums and killing pain. So I change up what I brush my teeth with.

So to recap, eating the right types of foods at least once a day, building nutrition, building blood, good dental oral hygiene and getting out into the sun.

Now, if you want to take it to the next level, I have a program called the H•E•A•L (Heal Education And Lifestyle).

I teach you activities to rebuild the gums, to help nourish and rebuild the teeth; actual physical activities that heal your teeth and your gums.

There’s lots of other amazing content that will teach you the nutritional foundation so that you and your children can have healthy teeth for the rest of your life.

What if….the very thing we’re told is preventing cancer is actually causing it?

Yes, I’m talking about sunscreen.

There are two reasons why I believe sunscreen actually causes cancer…

Number One:

People putting on sunscreen all over their body anytime they go in the sun is preventing the critical nutrient, Vitamin D, to be up-taken by the sun. When you put on sunscreen, you’re not getting Vitamin D, which is needed to prevent osteoporosis, nervous system conditions and even many forms of cancer.

Number Two:

Most sunscreens contain petrochemicals, which create an anaerobic, acidic environment on the skin. If you just simply turn over your sunblock and read all of the ingredients and chemicals in the sunscreen, you’ll see that you’re putting those ingredients on your skin and then baking it into your skin by getting into the sun.

Researchers, Cedric Garland and William Grant, from the University of Southern California stated that our ability to get Vitamin D is one of the number one fighters in cancer, including skin cancer, prostate cancer, and digestive colon cancer.

So basically, a lack of Vitamin D is one of the most contributing factors to skin cancer.

Is it actually the sun causing skin cancer?

I believe the answer is no.

When we look at the longest-lived cultures around the world and go to places like Africa, where people are out in the sun all day, every day, we’ll discover that there are actually very low cases, almost non-existent, of people getting skin cancer.

Yet, if you take these same people and you put them in the United States (called migrational studies) they start to develop skin cancer.

Why is that?

The reason is when you go to the United States, the diet changes. All of a sudden, people are eating high-fat foods, processed foods. They’re exposed to carcinogens in the form of preservatives, artificial colours and artificial sweeteners. They’re eating way more animal protein because it’s very cheap in western countries.

So all of a sudden they’re eating all this crap food.

Cornell University has been doing research on cancer for over 30 years, showing that the number one cause and factor for cancer growth is excess animal protein.

This is the number one factor in causing insulin-like growth factor to boost really high. The insulin-like growth factor is the number one cause of all cancer growth.

There have been studies in the United States and all over the world, and even one study from Sweden that followed 30,000 women for over 20 years. What they discovered is that women who avoided the sun because they were afraid of it causing cancer were two times more likely to get skin cancer than women who are out daily with sun exposure and even sun baking.

What is the solution?

Well, the solution is to have some intelligence and go into the sun and manage our time.

When we go out into the sun a little bit at a time, we produce melanin and the skin gets darker so that we can handle more sunlight. Our body develops Vitamin D. It literally helps us to prevent all kinds of sickness.

What you can also do is start to look at plant-based oils that have a natural SPF quality without having all the chemicals. Things like coconut oil have a natural 5 to 7 SPF. So, a little bit of coconut oil can help you to go in the sun a little bit longer.

If you get carrot seed or raspberry seed oil and mix it with coconut oil, it takes it up to about 30 SPF. And, you’ve got to remember that these are natural plant-based oils, so they’re good for the skin and they’re also preventing you from burning.

If you like the idea of making your own personal health care products, you’ll find a module on this, plus some recipes, in my H•E•A•L program.

So, bring it back to simplicity, bring it back to some truth, and go get in the sun.

Dealing with the subject of acne, especially in teenagers, I want to talk about it from kind of a different perspective than what you’ve probably heard before.

Most people are focused on some type of pharmaceutical drug or cleansing product for the face. I want to talk about the mental and emotional connection of WHY a person might develop acne.

The Connection Between Emotions and Acne

Most of us have at least a little bit of intuition and can see the relationship between being really stressed out or having an emotional or mental condition, and how these things can play a role in your physical health.

Some people are aware of that, others not so much. But I know when it comes to acne specifically, it has a lot to do with self-acceptance and not feeling like we’re good enough. The emotion of not accepting yourself can actually bring on skin conditions, especially acne.

So when you think about a teenager coming of age, they’re in high school, they’re really aware of their own ego, they’re always thinking about how they look and whether people like and accept them. When they start to think negatively and think that they aren’t good enough, they very often criticise themselves and don’t accept themselves. And acne will often start to show up as a result of that.

Once the acne shows up, it typically gets worse, because they’re like “Oh my god, look at that pimple, that’s ugly, nobody’s gonna like me, everybody’s gonna see it”.

That loops around in their brain and they get caught up in a cycle of not liking themselves. Then the acne tends to spread and get worse, and it’s kind of a downward spiral.

What’s Happening Inside Your Body?

From the physical side of things, I have a face chart.

Face Glyph

When you look at this face chart, you can literally see that if there’s acne on the chin, it’s related to the reproductive system and even hormones. You can see if it’s on the cheeks, it’s related to the stomach. If it’s on the forehead, it’s probably related to the digestive system. If it’s between the eyebrows, it’s related to the liver.

With this face chart, you can see if there’s acne that’s accumulating in one place, which internal organ it’s indicating is out of balance.

Eating Hormones Messes with Your Hormones

Another thing that’s changing for teenagers is that their hormones are going WILD! Testosterone and estrogen and all sorts of other hormones are developing, including human growth hormones because they’re really starting to grow. These hormones can be thrown off by hormones that they’re actually eating.

Now the only way to eat hormones is by eating pigs, chickens, cows, etc., because these are animals that contain hormones. When you’re eating hormones from an exterior source, and at the same time your body’s producing all these hormones, it can be a bit much and hormonal imbalances start to create issues.

How to Eliminate Pimples for Clear, Glowing Skin

Eat less meat and eat more plants

I’m a big believer that you need to radically cut back on animal intake and concentrate more on the plant kingdom that contains phytoestrogens and other things that help balance our hormones. Certain roots like ginseng and maca and different whole foods, like avocados and leafy greens, are great for balancing hormones.

Work on self-acceptance

I believe that we also need to look at energetically, mentally and emotionally accepting ourselves, LOVING ourselves, and maybe even not looking in the mirror for 30 days while we work on these things.

Clean your internal terrain

I would also highly recommend doing some form of colon cleansing. I’ve got a Colon Cleanse product you can use. You take about a tablespoon every two hours, five times a day for four days. And it cleans the entire digestive system out!

If you have concentrated acne anywhere on your face, doing a colon cleanse allows ALL of your organs to detox.

Do a Pulse cleanse

Another thing I would recommend is doing 30-60 days of a raw food plant-based diet. That means that you’re eating fresh plants, fruits, vegetables, salads, smoothies, juices, nuts, and seeds and grains. And in fact, I have a product that’s called PULSE.

Pulse is a variety of nuts, seeds, roots and dried fruits in a perfect proportion to give the body all the nutrients it needs but also help the body to detox and balance hormones.

Use Guasha to clean your skin

One other important area to address is actual skin cleaning. I make a product called Guasha. I don’t sell this product, I just teach you how to make it at home.

It’s a mix of bicarbonate of soda and alcohol. I have a video showing you how to mix these items, you can add little bit of essential oils of your choice, to make your own guasha. You take that and scrub the skin with it. It opens up the pores and it is the most cleansing product on the planet. And it’s very cheap to make at home.

Get out in the sun

The last thing I’ll say is to make sure you’re getting out into the sun. Developing vitamin D is good for the skin and it balances your hormones. That’s gonna be a fantastic remedy right there for getting rid of skin conditions at ANY age.

You’ll be glowing after 60 days of doing this. You’ll be full of energy and mentally clear. I absolutely promise you that!

Can you build muscle on a plant-based diet?

YES!

First of all, if you’re watching this video, you probably want to build muscle on a plant-based diet because you’re also concerned about your health, and want to maintain health and longevity whilst still looking really good.

I want to say straight up that if you want to build muscle really fast, eating a lot of meat and taking a lot of protein shakes with MSG and all these things that force fats into the muscle is the fastest way to do it.

That’s why traditional bodybuilders eat meat five times a day and take protein powders to put fats into the muscle.

But if you want to maintain a level of health and longevity, just Google “plant-based bodybuilders”. There are hundreds of them, probably thousands, that are building really amazing physiques and doing it from a much healthier perspective.

So how do you actually do it?

#1 High-Intensity Interval Training and Intermittent Fasting

Now, building muscle is all about putting in the work. So what builds muscle?

It’s actually doing the strength training and dynamic movements that build muscle. That is what will boost testosterone and human growth hormone.

There’s a study that recently came out that showed high-intensity training in conjunction with intermittent fasting boosts human growth hormone by 2000%.

That means if I go out and I do a bunch of sprints or burpees or swim as hard as I can – anything that’s pushing as hard as you can for short periods of time (20 to 30-second high burst and then rest), and you do that about six times over – this radically increases human growth hormone and testosterone, which is going to make it a lot easier to build muscle.

I recommend you do alternate days of high-intensity training and some form of strength training where you’re really hitting muscles to the point of fatigue to build muscle.

Then, it’s all about having the right amount of nutrition.

#2 Amino Acids

Beans, peas, hemp seeds, nuts and seeds are actually really high in protein. So if you want to be healthy, I would recommend maintaining more of a balanced diet and including these things in your diet.

So what’s the nutrition we’re looking for to build muscle?

Everybody knows it’s protein, but really it comes down to the amino acids. The highest form of ‘bioavailable’ amino acid in the world is a little sprout called alfalfa. It’s a complete protein that has more bioavailable protein than anything else.

It just so happens that I have created a product called Greens, and the main component of this is alfalfa.

It’s interesting to know that just having some Greens can build muscle because it’s providing your body with the highest amount of bioavailable amino acids on the planet.

What I mean by ‘bioavailable’ is if I take the highest form of amino acids and proteins in the form of a green drink, it comes into my body, it goes into my small intestine, and my body can literally grab those amino acids, put them into my blood and take them to all of my muscles and start to feed my muscles these proteins and building blocks.

Whereas if I eat a steak or chicken, it takes a lot of energy and a lot of hydrochloric acids to break down that protein.

A lot of the protein becomes denatured from the cooking process, and it’s not actually bioavailable. So when I eat a steak, it takes a lot of energy and there’s a lot less bioavailable protein. I’m still going to get the protein, but it’s going to take a lot of energy and it’s going to produce a lot of acids during the process.

So by drinking something like Greens, I’m alkalizing my body, getting amino acids and there’s not a lot of energy that’s used to get it.

Eating meat takes a lot of energy, uses a lot of hydrochloric acids and a lot of acids is produced.

So in time and distance, I’ve got to eat more meat to get the same amount of amino acids, but it’s starting to destroy my digestive system and create fatigue because of all the energy it takes to get that protein.

A product that is bioavailable means the body can uptake it very easily without putting in a lot of work.

Building muscle takes a lot of work. You got to be committed to the process, get a personal trainer or workout partner and look at your diet and nutrition so that you don’t develop chronic fatigue and major digestive conditions and other types of issues that a lot of bodybuilders deal with.

For the longevity side of things, plant-based building muscle is definitely the best way to go.

Are you having issues with fungi?

Do you ever experience jock itch?

Do you have toenail fungus?

There’s even something called tinea or ringworm, where you might see little skin conditions and strange things going on.

Do you experience thrush and having a mucosal stuff coming out?

If you’re experiencing these things, it’s probably because you have an actual fungal infection.

Why do we get fungal infections?

The reason we get fungal infections inside the body is because there’s an accumulation of acids in the body. When the body becomes acidic, certain fungi will start growing that couldn’t grow otherwise.

This is why people get athlete’s foot and toenail fungus – through gravity, the acid actually goes to the feet.

How do you get rid of a fungal infection?

If you’re experiencing symptoms of a fungal infection, how do you actually get rid of it?

To clean up fungus in general you need to build up the good gut bacteria in your body that will literally kick fungus out. It’s incorporating the right types of foods that will build the gut and the right types of foods that feed probiotics inside our gut.

That could be nut yogurt, coconut yogurt or anything that really builds the gut. The good bacteria will then get rid of the fungus over a couple of weeks, and it can potentially take even 30 days to really build the gut.

What can you eat to build up good gut bacteria?

There are three foods you can use to build good gut bacteria. Two of them are very powerful foods.

#1: Garlic

Garlic is a massive antifungal food. The cool thing about garlic is it’s also a prebiotic. This means, when you consume garlic, it actually feeds all the good gut bacteria that get rid of fungus and bad bacteria.

If you have a tough time eating it, I recommend chopping it up and putting it in some sauerkraut. It makes it a lot easier to consume.

#2: Coconut and coconut oil

Coconut is also a massive antifungal food. Consuming coconut and using coconut oil on the skin, and potentially even drinking a small amount of coconut, can kill fungus inside of the body.

#3: Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar not only replaces and puts good bacteria into the body, but can actually kill fungus on the external part of the body as well.

How do you use it?

There’s a couple of different ways. If you’re a woman, you could actually use about a half a cup of apple cider vinegar in a warm douche and actually clean your body out. If you decide to do this, I would also add sauerkraut juice to the mixture to create a really good balance in the ecology inside the vagina.

To use it for anybody else for external conditions, it’s literally putting a whole cup into a bath and soaking in it. The acids from the vinegar will start to kill off the fungus and it replaces the good bacteria in the skin.

Today I wanted to talk about a very common condition.

Yep, I’m talking about Candida.

Otherwise known as Candida Albicans, a yeast infection, yeast overgrowth, candidiasis, thrush, or a fungal infection.

And there’s a good chance you have it right now or you might in the future. No, really. Studies suggest that up to 70% of the population have Candida.

This means it’s worth finding out some more about what it is… and how to know if you’ve got it.

So first…

What is Candida?

Candida is a fungal infection that is found in the mouth, the vagina, the skin, and the digestive system. It might be present in all or just one of those locations.

You get Candida when the good and bad bacteria in your gut are out of balance. So, the Candida (which are normally present) get a little out of control and can take over your system.

This might be caused by too much refined sugar in your diet, alcohol, antibiotics, and other medications. It might also be from too much stress. Even if your diet is excellent, there’s still a chance you can get Candida.

What are some Candida symptoms?

When you have a Candida infection, you can suffer from lots of unpleasant symptoms.

Exhaustion – feeling tired even if you’ve had a normal amount of sleep.

Craving sweets – reaching for sugar even though you know you shouldn’t.

Bad breath – when your bacteria are out of balance, it can make your breath unpleasant.

White coating on your tongue – a visible sign that oral thrush is present.

Brain fog – trouble concentrating on tasks and remembering things.

Hormone imbalances – this can affect your body and mood in different ways.

Joint pain – inflammation causes pain in your knees, wrists, and other joints.

Loss of sex drive – changing hormones and physical symptoms can cause a drop in your libido.

Chronic sinus and allergy issues – inflammation from a candida infection can cause discomfort day and night.

Digestive problems – like gas, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea are caused by an irritated digestive tract.

Weak immune system – due to damage from the infection.

Urinary tract infections – when the infection migrates it can cause itching or burning sensations.

Candida Albicans might be common but the symptoms can really impact your quality of life. Especially if you can’t get rid of the infection or it keeps coming back.

A Simple Candida Test

By now, you probably have some idea of whether or not you have a candida overgrowth in your body. If you are experiencing any of the symptom I just shared, it’s worth looking into further.

There’s a really simple test you can do to detect if you have a candida infection. It just takes a little time, preparation, a glass of water and… some spit.

Step 1: Prep
Get a class of clean water and put it next to your bed overnight.

Step 2: Add your spit
When you wake up in the morning, give your tongue a little scrape, build up a bit of saliva, and then spit it into the glass of water.

Step 3: Wait
Leave your science experiment for around 2-3 minutes.

Step 4: Check
You can expect one of three things to happen here:

  1. Your saliva will just sit there in the top of the glass.
  2. Your saliva will look stringy and sink towards the bottom of the glass.
  3. Your saliva will make the water cloudy throughout the glass.

If you see the first result, you’re probably all clear – no candida albicans (especially if you don’t have any of the symptoms I listed).

But if you get either result two or three, it’s a sign of a potential candida overgrowth in your saliva.

What You Can do Next

If you suspect you have a problem with candida, you might want to check out my video where I talk about tips on how you can get rid of candida albicans.

I’ve also blogged about how you can naturally treat vaginal thrush if that’s something you’re experiencing.

Candida is not pleasant, but it is common, and once you know if you’ve got it, you can do something about it.

It’s a magical and crazy time of year! Most people are spending time with family, doing a little bit of partying and having a good ole’ time.

It would really suck if you had a major blowout, ended up sick or with the flu and then couldn’t actually be there during Christmas or for New Year’s Eve.

So that’s why I thought I’d share 3 tips that I highly recommend you stick with over this ‘Silly Season’!

Self-care is so important during this time, but so is pulling the carrot out of your ass, relaxing, connecting with family and friends, eating some quality food, having a few drinks, and just enjoying yourself.

So my three tips are…

Tip #1 – Hydration

Hydration is SO important to make sure all the vital functions of your body keep working the way they’re supposed to.

Scientists who have studied the functions of the human body recommend drinking one litre of water per 22kg of body weight each day. And I 100% agree. I weigh about 80kg and drink about four litres of water a day, which means if I’m drinking alcohol or coffee—those drinks that can lead to dehydration—my foundation is already established and I’m not going to end up dehydrated.

I know for some people, even 1L sounds like a lot. If you don’t think you can drink that much water a day, just do your best.

The best time to hydrate is first thing in the morning. When you first wake up, drink as much water as you can because this gets the digestive system working, sends fluid into your joints and helps to detox and rehydrate your system from the day before.

If you have a big bender, I would highly recommend before you go to bed, smash at least 500 mls (2 cups) of water with a pinch of salt. Maybe even a whole litre if you can! It’s going to water everything down so you will wake up and feel pretty good in the morning.

If you’re properly hydrated you’ll also be less prone to stress eating.

Stay Hydrated

Tip #2 – Walking

For me this is a non-negotiable.

How many of you guys have seen Wolf of Wall Street?

This guy was drinking alcohol and doing drugs every single day. BUT, here’s the kicker. He shared a hot tip… He said (and I’m paraphrasing here), “every morning, I’d wake up, I’d smash it in the gym, I would sit in a sauna, sweat out all the drugs from the day before, and then start all over again.”

Simply moving the body; getting outside and walking up a sweat is enough. I go for a 45-minute walk every day and I’m out there sweating and supporting my body to clean out any toxins. If you’re in Australia, especially now it’s summertime, it’s the perfect time to go for a big walk, sweat it out and breathe deeply while you’re walking. If you’re in the US or somewhere else where it’s cold, put on a thick coat and jumper—something that will make you sweat and get out there. Fantastic!

Doing at least a 30-minute walk in the morning will give you more energy for the day AND reduce stress. (It could also be a good excuse for some much need alone time over Christmas!) It’s such a simple exercise, yet it does SO much for your body. Your digestion is going to move and you’ll most likely come home and have a bowel movement. Yay, got rid of yesterday’s shit!

If you want to take it to the next level, sit in a sauna or do enough activity that you’re really sweating out yesterday’s toxins. ‘

Keep Walking

Tip #3 – Quality Music

We have an awesome playlist here at home, one that really helps lift the mood. I recommend everyone make up their own playlist of song that you LOVE and have it on in the car, or at work. It’s a great way to get rid of stress. It’s all about keeping that high vibration.

If you don’t already have a playlist, I really recommend taking the time to find songs that make you happy and make you want to get your body moving!

Because did you know that dancing improves your immunity?

At this time of year, being around family and loads of people can be emotional and even stressful for some people. There can be a whole bunch of old stuff that comes up. This stress can actually suppress our immune system. Whereas dancing gives you happy vibes. Not only is that great for stress release, but being in an elated state literally helps to build our immune system!

When you’re listening to music you love, your body just wants to move. Hands up if you’ve felt that?

Keep Dancing

Keep hydrated. Keep walking. Listen to music.

These three simple things will help you to stay positive and keep going, even when you’ve been pounded by alcohol or party food.

So those are my three hot tips to keep going through Christmas and New Year.

I hope they help you through these holidays.

I get a lot of people asking me how to get rid of acne naturally. They want to have smooth glowing skin again and I totally understand that.

I notice that more and more people are suffering with acne as adults now, not just teenagers. Interesting huh? So I think it’s really important to get to the root cause of the acne and clean it up from there.

What’s The Cause Behind Acne And Why Face Creams Don’t Work Long Term

Acne is not just random, and it’s not just your skin getting clogged. It has everything to do with the internal environment and is like a light flashing on the dashboard!! Unfortunately a bit of an embarrassing one.

If you do have pimples make sure you know that there is a difference between the types of spots. A papule is a hard lump with no top to pop. Touching these makes them worse and leads to a pimple. Avoid touching them at all. Pimples have the white pus at the top (aka: toxins).

The safe way to remove the toxins is to use a warm face cloth, place over the area then get 2 cotton tips, gently squeeze to remove the pus. NOTE: at the first sight of blood STOP so you don’t scar yourself! Then apply lavender essential oil to the area to assist with the healing process. I also highly recommend you do a cleanse, and clean up your everyday diet!

I know out of desperation many people try chemical cosmetic acne creams, but these don’t address the source of the ance. Even worse they often contain a whole host of chemicals which are then absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream, placing more stress on your system and potentially more acne!

The thing to understand is that acne won’t go away just by buying some cream or popping it. The deeper source of the problem is really your internal environment. The cure to all of this is to clean out your insides, all your organs, your blood, your whole system and it will go away.

And it’s not just acne that is a sign your insides need a clean up. Wrinkles, lines, darkness, bags, paleness, rashes, dry skin, big pores and cold sores are all signs of something else going on inside of you that needs some attention.

How To Get Rid Of Acne Naturally And Solve The Root Cause

If you want to be optimally healthy, attractive and beautiful then stop just looking outside yourself. Everything is connected, and this is a chart to help you understand what is going on inside your body.

The best news is that no matter which part of your body is crying out for help on your face, fasting helps heal it all. There is no need to do a specific cleanse for each body part.

The even better news, is that skin problems are one of the first conditions to clear up when doing a juice fast. Every time I take 30 people on a 7-10 day juice fast they literally look brighter and tighter in the face. Their skin is just glowing. Not to mention their personality and outlook on life are different as well.

It’s not to say it’s a quick fix though. It’s about regular cleaning and maintenance of your body. During a juice fast you’ll definitely see some improvement, but if your acne has been caused by years of constipation (and it was trying to eliminate waste through your skin) then you’ll probably need to do a few rounds of colon cleansing and fasting to address that.

Similarly if you were eating a junk food diet and living off coffee and stress then you’ll need to incorporate some new lifestyle changes to keep your skin healthy.

My Top Recommendations To Heal Acne

Not only does it show you how to do a juice fast but it’s full of really valuable lifestyle recommendations – breathing properly to oxygenate your body and de-stress, drinking enough water to hydrate every cell, exercising to get your blood pumping to all your organs, exercises to balance your hormones, how to find your passion and make goals and how to create relationships that nourish you.

As mentioned above I also recommend you do a 4 Day Colon Cleanse, since your skin health is so closely related to your colon health.

Lastly just want to add that Markus Rothkranz has an amazing book called “Heal your Face” and inspires many people in this way as well. If you don’t believe this works, just look at him… He’s 50+ years young.

Feel free to share this with someone who needs it as well. Anyone who has acne is always wanting to find a solution that really works.
