The Top 4 Uses of Salt
Did you know that Salt is a critical nutrient that all living things NEED in order to survive?
Chances are you have been told otherwise your whole life.
I am so over the Salt 'beat-up' that has been going on, and it comes from both the media and the "pharma" giants.
The twist is that NOT having Salt is making us sick.
Mother Nature knows what she is doing, and all you have to do is think about how wildly abundant Salt is to see that it is critical to our health.
In fact, a diet and personal care routine that uses pure Salt can result in:
- Balanced sugar levels
- Stabilisation of irregular heart beats
- Strong mental function
- Clear lungs
- Reduction or elimination of eczema and skin conditions
- Improved digestion
- The loss of muscle cramps
- Reduction in fluid retention
- And so much more!
So how can we incorporate more Salt into our lives?
By using my top 4 medicinal uses for Salt... that's how.
1. Eat at least one pinch of Salt a day on your food (I use Celtic Salt)
If you want to start improving your health and maximising all the benefits of Salt, it is essential that you start to incorporate Salt into your diet. Now forget table Salt, don't touch that stuff, I am talking about pure, unprocessed Salts like Celtic Salt.
Sprinkle a pinch of Salt on each savoury meal you have throughout the day.
2. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon in a 500 ml glass of water and drink it first thing (I use Himalayan)
In fact, you can put a sprinkle of Salt in every glass of water you drink. Salt mineralises water, especially if it's filtered water which is often stripped of the nasties and the minerals at the same time. If you can add a pinch of Salt and leave your water in the sun, then shake it and drink it, I promise you will be drinking the most nutrient available water possible.
By starting your day with a tablespoon of Salt you are also mineralising your body for the day and getting an essential hit of Salt.
3. Scrub your skin with Salt
Salt is excellent for exfoliating the skin. Exfoliated skin feels smooth, but it's so much more than that. You're skin is your largest organ, and it's also the largest avenue for your body to release toxins. When your skin becomes clogged and congested it can stop releasing toxins, which can cause a toxic build up in the body.
Use Salt with essential oils and gently scrub all over your body to stimulate the skin and release built-up toxins.
Make sure you lather up after with plant based moisturiser after (I use Coconut Oil).
4. Soak in salt (I use Epsom Salt)
Whether you have a tub, or not, soaking is salt is so important. When I am on the road and don't have access to a bathtub, I usually ask for a bucket and fill it with hot water and epsom salts then dunk my feet in. Detoxing your feet is a great way to remove excess toxins, not to mention soothing sore feet!
Make sure the water is nice and warm as your pores will begin to open and you will start absorbing the Salt from the outside-in. Epsom Salts are an amazing healing tool for muscle and bone aches, so make sure you spend as long as you can soaking.
And there you have it folks...
If you've had your doubts about Salt for years, I trust that you'll do a little homework on it for yourself.
Good quality, nature-made Salt really is one of the true wonders of mother earth.
